so more bad news. The car needs 1000 dollars of work. Well the car 's blue book value is 1300 ( and I think for our car that is being generous!) But we can't afford to buy a new one so fix it we will and hope that that is all we have to do for her for awhile.
More bad news...Clarion , the writers' workshop has lost funding. Its in its 36th year and right now no one is sure what is going to happen to it. While certainly saying science fiction is doomed because of this is melodrama at the very least it sure is a thorn in the side of the genre.
I hope that there is a way to keep the workshop going and I'm willing to lend myself to the campaign.
wish us luck.

so I haven't felt like blogging for awhile. but i just thought i'd check in and say people are basically good.
I'm not usually so pro people but this past week i had contact with strangers who were really kind.
I was driving home in stop and go traffic with the air conditioning off cause i was a little worried about over heating when the car started to fill with smoke. After pulling over I noticed that another car had followed me to the median . He had seen the smoke filling the car and had pulled over and was running toward the car with a fire extinguisher.
It was hot out. He had a baby in the car. There was no reason for this man to stop other than he saw someone who needed help.
Then after i convinced him I would be okay waiting for the police( i had called 911 hoping for a firetruck ) and the tow truck he left me with his emergency gear and his fire extinguisher. SO as I'm sitting in the median of the highway another car pulls over to see if he can help. And his obviously pregnant wife gets out of the car to come over and see if there is anything she can do.
People are good. Sometimes I forget that.
To all those people who go out of their way to make sure people in need are okay. Thank you. You give me hope .
